Burano

Burano is a colorful island that is the home of lace making. Literally, colorful, the town is filled with a variety of bright buildings all linked together to make the perfect “camera ready” destination. Burano is my personal favorite place on the Venetian Islands because of the color and all of the lace accessories including fans, umbrellas, clothing, jewelry and more. Burano is filled with restaurants on the water and personal roof top dining treatments to their up-most loyal customers. I would highly recommend this to someone that wants a great environment along with delicious food and accessories. Ciao!!

Students Perspective on Italian Fashion

The USC Study Abroad students and I were stoked about our big trip to the Fashion Capital. When packing, we noticed that we all packed the same types of clothing styles on the trip. Our perspective on how Italian's dress were extremely different than anticipated. When thinking of Italian fashion, long maxi skirts, flowing extravagant dresses, high waisted bottoms, along with bright, vibrant colors came to mind. Next, we scouted out fashion street trends and saw that people from Italy dressed basic and rather casual, but with a twist. Although their clothes were quite plain, it was clear that most of their money went toward accessories. High end designer shoes and bags were the main fashion catch. Louis Vuitton, Prada, Chanel, Dior, and Jimmy Choo's flashed by us walking down the streets of Rome leaving us breathless. Below is a picture of my friends and I in our version of "Italian Fashion"

ATTENTION: Fabulous Fashion for Less!! In the picture above, the girl on the right is wearing a Jumper from Macy's. I am wearing a dress from Kohls and my blazer is from Charlotte Russe.

My Personal Favorite: Gervais & Vine

Gervais & Vine, located in the Congaree Vista in Columbia, SC, is my ultimate favorite place to dine. G&V is a Mediterranean Tapas and Wine bar offering various selections of fresh menu items and over 35 wines by the glass available everyday. Wine tastings are offered every Wednesday from 5-7, along with weekly live entertainment, outdoor seating, monthly "Wine Goddess" parties, and daily specials. The atmosphere is contemporary and relaxing, and the staff is the most friendly and welcoming group I've met. Talk about great Southern Hospitality service!! I love everything about this restaurant from the fabulous wine selections to the mouthwatering tapas items (my top two favorite items are the Petite Filet topped with Pimento cheese and the Crab stuffed Salmon shown in the picture above). YUM!!

Frat-Tastic

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome the ultimate fashionable man in the South!! Dressed to the tee without a flaw, this Southern fraternity boy from the University of South Carolina tops my best dressed award for the collegiate "preppy look". This look is appropriate for any Greek function, most notoriously the Carolina Cup, a widely popular horse race in Camden, South Carolina The fluorescent bow tie and matching pants make up the proper southern look. Not to mention, the seersucker pastel shirt in between. Come on boys, let's dress the part to be the most fashionable Southern gentlemen.

A Southern Breakfast in New York

Silver Spurs, located on Broadway between 10th and 9th street in the lovely neighborhood of Greenwich Village, is a fabulous diner serving various breakfast items, sandwiches and juicy burgers. This restaurant made me feel like I was back in the South with their endless maple syrup pancakes and extra cheesy omelets. Thank goodness New York has a place that serves my type of plates, fully loaded, smothered, covered and fried!! The Western Theme, cow print booths, and affordable menu items perfectly twist the South into the Big Apple. I ordered a mouthwatering chocolate chip waffle that was out of this world along with freshly squeezed orange juice. Silver Spurs is definitely a diner I will return to for a marvelous meal for a deal, and most importantly, when my tummy misses home sweet home.
